To whom it may concern: Yesterday the Coloradoan reported that a woman was critically injured in an accident on Interstate 25. You reported that the accident was that woman's fault. You reported that she was traveling northbound and crossed the median and struck a Ford pickup. She was in fact, headed south to New Mexico, and was struck by the Ford pickup while in her own lane. Today, you have at least gotten a few more of the facts straight. It was Roy Green's vehicle that crossed the median and struck my friend's car. Her name is Laura Vigesaa. The error in your article this time is in reporting that Laura died of her injuries on Monday (March 13th) It is, at the time of writing this letter, Tuesday, March 14th, at 12:57 PM. I have only moments ago spoken to the nurse at the ICU at Poudre Valley Hospital. Laura is still alive. She is on life support, and in critical condition, but she is most certainly not dead. Laura's family flew into Fort Collins from Fargo, North Dakota to be with her. Careless reporting has become rampant in this world. Your paper is no exception. You expose countless individuals to haphazard, lackadaisical journalism when you report in this fashion. Laura's family and friends that could not be in Fort Collins to be with her are seeking out information in any way we can. Your erroneous reports have caused additional stress in a situation that is already stressful enough. You have a responsibility to at least try to report as close to the truth as possible. You have shirked that responsibility, and should be ashamed.

This is a truly sad case, and one that illustrates how word meaning has become confusing with technological advances.
We double-checked this with PVH this morning, and they confirmed that Ms. Vigesaa was indeed pronounced dead Monday morning. The family made the decision to donate her organs, so medical steps were taken to protect the organs for transplant teams. The transplant surgery didn't take place until Tuesday, according to the hospital, but her time of death was listed as Monday morning.
The poster is correct in stating that the Coloradoan's initial report of the accident transposed some of the details of how the accident occurred. The paper ran a correction this morning, along with the story of Ms. Vigesaa's passing, which included charges against the other driver.

Complaining here or directly to the editorial management of The Coloradoan about factual inaccuraries, falsehoods, fraud, lies, distortions, and partisan political propaganda presented as objective fact and truth is pointless. Under the direction of the new publisher The Coloradoan has gone from being a so-so newspaper to be a waste of paper. I suggest if you are genuinely concerned about the factual inaccuraries, falsehoods, fraud, lies, distortions, and partisan political propaganda presented as objective fact and truth you instead direct your inquiries directly to the CEO of the Gannett Corporation, which owns and operates The Coloradoan. If enough people do this on a regular basis the CEO may come to understand that he needs to employ competent, honest, moral, and ethic persons instead of operatives for the Democratic party and other anti-American interests.

I suggest the old-fashioned way of weather forcasting.
Look out the window.

Weather forecasting in this area is wicked hard sometimes. I always give the weather people a break and rely on what farmers and pilots do. Learn something about "reading" the weather, check farm reports and pretty much ignore the NWS. It's also good to watch the weather in the NW, in Reno and Phoenix. One of them will very likely be here in a day or two.

I have to say that the Coloradoan has been very good to the pro-prairie dog people and we are very appreciative of that. However, in two articles they wrote that 250 prairie dogs had been fumigated at Pineridge. The actual number was 2,250. More than one person wrote to the Coloradoan about this error and provided the data to prove it. The paper never printed a correction.
